1️⃣ HR / Recruitment Coordinator

What they’re actually looking for:

  • Coordinating recruitment and onboarding processes
  • Screening and scheduling candidates
  • Supporting employee engagement initiatives

Tools you’ll use:

  • HRIS systems (Workday, BambooHR, ADP)
  • MS Excel / Google Sheets
  • Calendar & scheduling tools

How to build experience:
Offer to help at community organizations, local nonprofits, or university career centers with onboarding volunteers, scheduling interviews, or organizing orientation sessions.

2️⃣ Office / Administrative Assistant

What they’re actually looking for:

  • Managing calls, emails, and schedules
  • Supporting team documentation and reporting
  • Coordinating meetings and internal events

Tools you’ll use:

  • Microsoft Office / Google Workspace
  • Calendar apps (Outlook, Google Calendar)
  • Task/project management tools (Trello, Asana)

How to build experience:
Volunteer at local NGOs, charities, or student clubs to manage communications, schedule events, or organize data.

3️⃣ Customer Success / Client Relations Associate

What they’re actually looking for:

  • Supporting clients and resolving issues
  • Ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Maintaining strong relationships with clients

Tools you’ll use:

  • CRM systems (Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho)
  • Email and messaging platforms
  • Ticketing systems (Zendesk, Freshdesk)

How to build experience:
Volunteer with nonprofits or community programs to support participants, answer queries, or track engagement.

4️⃣ Tech Sales / Sales Development Representative

What they’re actually looking for:

  • Reaching out to potential clients
  • Understanding their needs
  • Presenting solutions and closing deals

Tools you’ll use:

  • CRM systems (HubSpot, Salesforce)
  • Email & LinkedIn outreach tools

How to build experience:
Volunteer to promote fundraising campaigns, sponsorships, or membership drives for local organizations.

5️⃣ Financial Advisor / Customer-Facing Banking Roles

What they’re actually looking for:

  • Guiding clients on basic financial decisions
  • Understanding client goals
  • Managing relationships and follow-ups

Tools you’ll use:

  • CRM and client tracking tools
  • MS Excel / Google Sheets
  • Financial calculators

How to build experience:
Get certified - either IFC or CSC and highlight your customer-facing experience from your part-time jobs. If you don't have any experience, find a basic customer-facing job.
