What we collect and why
We collect five things:
- Ordinary website and security records. Opening a page sends the usual request information, including your IP address, your browser and the page requested. It is logged so we can deliver the website and protect it from abuse.
- Anonymous usage analytics. Which pages are opened and which links are used, so we can see what visitors find useful. Described under Analytics and cookies below.
- Anything you send us by email. Email links open your own email application, so you decide what to write and what to include. We use it to answer you. A question and a short summary of your background are enough; please do not send identity documents or payment details.
- Your email address, if you buy the ebook. It is the address the book is sent to, so we cannot deliver without it. Described under Buying the ebook below.
- Chatbot messages. What you type in the “Ask Immigrant Ninja” panel, and an email address if you choose to ask for a reply. We use it to answer you and to check the assistant’s answers for accuracy.
We do not sell personal information and we do not use it for advertising.
The chatbot
The “Ask Immigrant Ninja” panel answers questions about the coaching. It is an assistant, not a person. A conversation is stored without your name or email address: your messages, the replies you were shown and a short summary of what you said you are working on. Please do not type payment details or identity documents into it.
Replies are produced with the help of OpenAI, our AI provider. Text that looks like an email address or a phone number is removed before anything is sent there, and the conversation is not used to train its models.
Email follow-up is optional. Only if you enter your email address and tick the consent statement do we keep that address, your first name if you give it and the summary, and we use them to reply to you about coaching.
How long we keep it: conversations are deleted 30 days after the conversation. Follow-up requests you consented to are deleted 12 months after that consent, or sooner if you ask.
Buying the ebook
The Interview Ninja ebook is the one thing you can buy on this website. The payment itself happens on Stripe’s own checkout page, under Stripe’s terms: they take the payment and they hold the card details. We never see your card number, and no card number reaches this website.
What we keep is the smallest record that proves you bought the book and lets us send it again: the email address you used at checkout, what was bought, what it cost, and the Stripe reference for the payment. We do not keep your name, your address or any part of your card. The email address is used to send you the download and to answer you about it, and for nothing else. Buying the ebook does not add you to any mailing list.
How long we keep it: the purchase record stays while the book does, because your download link has to keep working. Write to ishank@immigrantninja.com if you would like it removed, and your download link stops working when it is.
Analytics and cookies
We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages and links people use. It sets cookies in your browser so that several page views can be recognised as one visit, and it estimates which country you are in from your IP address. We do not use cookies for anything else.
Names, email addresses, chatbot messages, answers you type into a form and the values you enter in the opportunity calculator are never sent to analytics. Nothing you type into this website goes to it.
You can refuse analytics at any time, and nothing else on the website changes when you do:
Service providers
A small number of service providers handle information on our behalf so the website can run: website hosting, storage for chatbot conversations and ebook orders, the AI provider above, Stripe for taking ebook payments, the service that sends the ebook download email, and our own email. They may process that information outside Canada, including in the United States, where local authorities may be able to require access to it. They are permitted to use it only to provide their service to us.
Other websites
The coaching waitlist, workshop registration and payment, the Stripe page where you pay for the ebook, and the player used for student story videos are run by other companies on their own websites. Their privacy terms, not this policy, apply to what you enter or do there. Read them before you sign up or pay.
Your choices and requests
Write to ishank@immigrantninja.com to ask what information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to withdraw consent you gave for optional email follow-up. Tell us what you would like done and we will confirm when it is finished.
Security
Information is kept on services protected by passwords and encryption in transit, and access is limited to the people who need it to answer you. We hold no card details: Stripe takes the ebook payment on its own page and no card number reaches us. No website or service can be completely secure, so we cannot guarantee it, and we do not ask you to send sensitive documents through this website or by email.
Changes to this policy
If our handling of information changes, we update this page and the effective date above before the change takes effect. Please check it from time to time.
