What Tinder can teach you about getting your field job

If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude.

You might have been on a dating app or seen friends swipe left and right. When you look at someone’s profile, there’s a formula:

✅ Thirst-traps: Their absolute best shots (even if those were taken 4 years ago!).

✅ A punchy bio: A witty or intriguing line that stands out.

✅ Highlighting their strengths: Mentioning what they're great at (can be a great job or showing their adventurous side)

Now, if you were to find your partner on a dating app, you would also do all this, right?

Right!

Now, why aren’t you putting the same effort on LinkedIn?

LinkedIn can get you a good job that can then give you something to flaunt on Bumble or Jeevansaathi.com!

Recruiters and hiring managers are essentially “swiping” through profiles, skimming through your info to see if you are a good fit.

So, if you’re serious about landing a job, it’s time to give your LinkedIn profile that same level of attention.

Here are the top 3 things to get right:

  1. Professional Profile Photo: Choose a high-quality, recent photo where you look approachable and polished. Avoid anything too casual, and make sure it reflects the professional image you want to convey.

  2. Catchy Headline
Think beyond your job title—your headline is an opportunity to tell people what makes you unique. Instead of just “Project Manager,” try “Project Manager | Delivering on-time solutions in Tech” or something that showcases your specialty.

  3. Impactful Summary
Your summary (About section) should capture who you are, what you bring to the table, and what you’re passionate about.

There’s a lot more that you can do to make your LinkedIn profile optimized but this is the bare minimum!

Keep Blooming,
