Stop doing this if you want a field job!

Man conquers the world by conquering himself.

I met Mansi, my school friend, last Sunday who came to visit Vancouver from Toronto.

She, along with her family, was staying at her mom’s friend’s house in Vancouver.

She loved their house, the views, the terrace and calls it her dream house. The house is around $6M.

Mansi is doing a good corporate job in Toronto but here’s what she had to say about their hosts:

“It’s important to meet people like them as they inspire you to aim higher. They show you that a different and better world exists out there. Nhi toh lagta hai ki hum toh acchi job kar rhe hain, so sahi hai.”

This is so true because…

If majority of your friends are struggling to find a job, you’ll be satisfied with your survival job at Tim Hortons.

Not only will you feel satisfied but also have a sense of pride that you’re doing better than them. But don’t forget that…

➡️ Your circle will set your ceiling.
➡️ Your ceiling will set your ambition.
➡️ Your ambition will set the money that you will have.
➡️ The money you will have will set the kind of life that you will live.
➡️ The kind of life you will live will set the experiences and things that you can provide to your parents.

Let’s explore the scenario where all your friends are either struggling to find a job or are working survival jobs…

1️⃣ You’ll be fine working a survival job.

2️⃣ You friends might feed you thoughts that getting a field job is no longer possible in Canada, at least we have this Tim Hortons job.

3️⃣ With time, you’ll start believing them.

4️⃣ After some time, you’ll stop believing in your potential.

5️⃣ You’ll start accepting your present reality as your fate.

It pains my heart that a lot of international students will indeed fall into this trap when they could have achieved so much more 😔. Only if…

-They hadn’t let their belief die.
-They would have dared to step out of their comfort zone.
-They had a circle to motivate them and show that it is possible to have a better job and a better life.

So, don’t underestimate the power of being in a group that is stepping out of its comfort zone and landing better jobs.

Keep Blooming,
Bani Singh
