This is the real reason I got an $185K job offer!
If you've followed me for some time, you may already know that I got an $185K job in Tech Sales.
But I've never discussed how I got it.
So, let me break it down for you today…
It all started back in 2021 when I made $2K/month delivering food on my bike as a student.
I remember it was a beautiful evening, and I was out delivering food.
I got an order from a restaurant on Dundas Street.
So, I went in to pick up the order, and 15 seconds later…
My bike was gone!
(Now that I look back, this was the moment when my life changed forever)
It was a sad, depressing, and scary day.
Lost appetite, insomnia, anxiety, and panic attacks followed.
Not just because I lost my bike.
But how would I pay next month's rent with $0 coming in?
I had to find a job ASAP!
I started applying everywhere and took 2 part-time jobs to pay rent and stay afloat.
Frying chicken at Wild Wings.
Flipping burgers at Harvey's.
For those of you who don't know, I used to work in Tech Sales back in India.
So, while doing these 2 part-time jobs, I started applying to top SaaS companies in Toronto for my break term.
I got an interview from one of the companies, which I successfully cleared.
And guess what? - I got a $100K job as a STUDENT!
"But how is this related to the $185K offer Ishank?"
IT IS!
Dekho, my first job, was the very reason why I got the $185K offer.
I added my new job on my LinkedIn profile, thus making Canadian experience visible to recruiters.
I started documenting my tech sales journey on LinkedIn.
In short, I got loud about my skills and experience.
One random day, a recruiter reached out to me with an inbound offer.
In other words, I didn't apply for it.
The experience of that first role played a key factor in my getting such a high-paying offer WITHOUT EVEN APPLYING!
That’s the reason I'm writing this email today: to urge you to get your foot in. To get that first field job.
I know it’s hard.
The 100s of rejections.
The thought that 'India hi achaa tha.'
The constant questioning if all of this would be worth it.
I get it. I've been there.
But that first field job will open doors that you don't even know exist.
Your first job might not be a $100K one if you don’t have prior work ex.
But the experience you will acquire and the skills you will learn will eventually lead you to a much higher package.
Maybe not today, and maybe not in the next 3 months.
But in the next 1-2 years, you can easily be making $100K+ if you play your cards right and enter your field.
The sooner you get your foot in the door, the sooner you will earn $100K+.
