Don’t make this common interview mistake

You have power over your mind—not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.
— Marcus Aurelius

I’ve taken 100s of mock interviews and have noticed this common mistake: a lot of people do not have a good flow when answering interview questions. They beat around the bush and sometimes say a lot without saying anything of substance.

If you too find yourself blabbering in interviews, use this simple hack to answer in a structured manner and deliver an impactful answer:

There are 3 reasons……

How to implement it in your life?

When you get questions like:

Q. Why do you think you are a good fit for this role?
Q. Why do you want to work for our company?
Q. What motivated you to apply for this role with our company?

Frame your answer like this:

Start: There are 3 reasons why I believe I am a good fit for this role.
Middle: State the 3 reasons (1….., 2……, 3…..)
End: Tie up your answer. In conclusion, these three aspects—1….., 2……, 3…..—combine to make me confident in my ability to make a meaningful impact in this role.
