Ask this Magic Question to Land Your Dream Job

Do you want to read the interviewer’s mind?

Do you want to know the reasons they might not hire you?

It’s simple! Ask them this question, “Based on our conversation so far, do you think there might be a roadblock in you hiring me?”

This question works like a charm!

My example:

I asked this in my interview for my govt. job in Canada.

They didn’t point out anything and said everything looked good.

This gave me a hint that I have a high chance of getting the job!

Ishank’s example:

Now, let’s take Ishank’s example which is the true purpose of asking the question.

He had applied for an Account Executive (AE) role.

When he asked this question on two different instances, he got these responses:

Them: You haven’t worked in Canada before.

Him: In my Indian role, I used to mainly sell to North American clients, so I am well versed.

Them: You just worked for 4 months in your previous job.

Him: Yes, that was my academic break and to retain my visa status, I had to go back to my studies, hence I had to quit.

Them: You’ve worked as a BDR in India, so this position will be a level higher.

Him: All my job responsibilities were that of an AE, it’s just that the naming terminology is different there.

See, he got a chance to handle the objections. There was a mismatch between what he had done and what they were thinking he had done. All he needed was to ask this question to address the doubts.

Result: He got both those jobs!

So, next time you go to an interview, don’t forget to ask this question. You will either get the job or the areas that you need to improve on.
