The story of getting fired from my $185K job

There is no passion to be found in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.
— Nelson Mandela

In my last email, I wrote about how I got the $185K job without even applying.

Today, I’m sharing how I got fired from the same job 3 months later :(

You see, two years ago, I was on top of the world.

$185K salary. Working 10 hours a week. Living the dream.

I thought I had made it.

Until one day, it all came crashing down.

'We're downsizing,' they said. 'Your position has been eliminated.'

The problem? I had tied my entire identity to my job.

And just like that, I fell.

➡️ Anxiety attacks followed.

➡️ Sleepless nights crept in.

➡️ My confidence? Completely shattered.

I had hit rock bottom. Hard.

But here's the thing - it was the best thing that ever happened to me.

Let me explain...

Most immigrants never indeed hit rock bottom. They hover in what I call the 'Complacency Zone.'

You know those 3 AM thoughts?

"What am I doing with my life?"

"What if I have to go back to India?"

"Mere saare dosto ki job lag gyi. Me hi reh gya."

Sound familiar?

The problem with these thoughts is that you're miserable enough to have them but comfortable enough not to act on them.

It's a dangerous place to be.

You're inches away from transforming your life but stuck in the swamp of mediocrity.

You see, rock bottom is the place where explosive growth happens.

Fun fact: I came up with the idea for Immigrant Ninja during my rock-bottom phase.

That business has:

✅ Allowed me to help immigrants make $15.34M+ in job offers!

✅ Helped me to share my 2 cents on the job market with 100s of mentees.

✅ Helped countless immigrants put food on their tables.

That is why it is vital to hit rock bottom, and most people never hit it.

"So, how do I get out of the Complacency zone, Ishank?"

Well…Force yourself to hit rock bottom.

How? Play it out:

It is one of the most effective ways that I have recommended for years now.

Write down what your life will look like in the next 5 years if you keep doing what you're doing.

Spoiler alert: It will be uncomfortable.

Sit in that discomfort.

Let it depress you.

You won't escape the 'surviving' phase unless you hit bottom first.

Trust me, I've been there. That job loss felt like the end of the world.

But it was just the beginning.

Now, I've helped immigrants make $15.34M+ in job offers!

Remember, it's okay to struggle.

But It's not okay to stay stuck.

Are you ready to break free from the Complacency Zone?

Remember, you're not just fighting for a job. You're fighting for your dreams, for your future, for everything you left behind to come here.
